Plzeň is the fourth city of the Czech Republic, ninety minutes from the Bavarian border, and the only place in the western half of the country that can host a full congress without sending anyone to Prague. It also has the most quotable venue in Central Europe: the brewery that gave its name to a third of the world’s beer.

Pilsner Urquell brewery
Visitor centre, historic cellars and event spaces inside a working brewery. The cellars are dramatic, cold and effectively unlit — plan for that.
DEPO2015
A former tram depot turned creative and event hall: industrial volumes, concrete, and the flexibility that comes with it. Almost no ambient light.
Techmania Science Center
A science centre in former Škoda works halls, used for conferences and evening events with exhibits as the backdrop.
Měšťanská beseda and hotel congress floors
The historic civic house for formal evenings, plus modern hotel conference floors for the working half of a programme.
Cellar temperature is a real planning factor. Historic brewery cellars sit close to single-figure temperatures year round. Guests in evening dress need to know before they arrive, and camera equipment brought straight up into a warm hall will fog.
Photographing events here
Industrial volumes and underground spaces — Plzeň is a city where the venue’s own lighting design decides what is possible.
- Ask for the lighting plan for DEPO2015 and the brewery spaces before the day; without it, wide room shots are guesswork.
- Cellars need fast glass and a small bounced source. A direct flash removes the entire reason the room was booked.
- Historic civic interiors are shot available-light; hotel congress rooms take bounced fill from the sides.
