Litoměřice is the pleasant surprise of North Bohemia: a renaissance square, a working wine region, an exhibition ground that hosts one of the country’s biggest garden fairs, and a hill fort above the confluence of the Elbe and the Ohře. An hour from Prague, ninety minutes from Dresden, and considerably better looking than its neighbours.

Why hold an event in Litoměřice

  • A square worth holding a reception on. The historic centre does the work that a designed venue would otherwise have to.
  • Wine as a legitimate theme. This is a genuine wine-growing town, not a marketing story bolted onto a hotel evening.
  • Exhibition capacity. The Zahrada Čech grounds take fairs and large outdoor formats that no other town nearby can host.
  • Easy from Prague. Under an hour by road, which makes it a realistic single-day offsite.

The venues

Hrad Litoměřice

The castle complex on the square, restored as a congress and wine centre: halls, cellars and a wine bar. The most complete single venue in the town.

Výstaviště Zahrada Čech

The exhibition grounds: halls and open ground for fairs, festivals and large company days. Standard exhibition-hall lighting problems apply.

The historic square and cellars

Merchant houses, arcades and the medieval cellar network underneath. Extraordinary settings, and almost entirely without usable ambient light below ground.

Vineyard and river venues

Wineries in the surrounding hills and terraces above the Elbe for smaller receptions and management days.

Terezín is not an event venue. The memorial ten minutes away is a former ghetto and concentration camp site. It can be a meaningful, properly guided part of a programme; it is never a location for a reception, a team activity or a group photograph.

Photographing events here

Above ground it is one of the easiest towns in the region. Below ground it is one of the hardest.

  • Cellar events have effectively no ambient light. Everything depends on what the venue lights and on a small bounced source.
  • The square and the castle terraces are timed to the last hour of daylight; midday is contrasty and unhelpful.
  • Exhibition halls need per-scene white balance and, under stand canopies, a bounced fill so faces do not disappear.
