Cheb is the last Czech town before Bavaria and Saxony, and Františkovy Lázně sits five minutes north of it. Together they are the natural meeting point for German companies with Czech operations in the west — a medieval square, a spa quarter and a border that means nothing to a modern guest list.

Both towns have modern hotel meeting rooms for the working half of a programme. Plain, functional, low-ceilinged and lit for reading.
Two currencies and two VAT regimes. A cross-border event here almost always means invoicing in euros for German guests and crowns locally. Settle who is contracting with the venue before the deposit, not after.
Photographing events here
An outdoor-first town: most of what makes Cheb worth photographing happens in the square, the castle courtyard or the spa park.
- Everything outdoors is planned around the light — the square is contrasty at midday and beautiful in the last hour.
- The castle courtyard has no artificial light of its own; an evening event there depends on the lighting the organiser brings.
- Spa hall interiors are warm and low, and are shot available-light with bounced fill where a table needs it.
