A compact set-up as a visitor draw. Guests leave with a portrait, you leave with their email address and a reason to send it.
Why consistency is the whole point: a leadership page where three portraits were shot in a studio, two on a phone and one at a wedding looks careless before anyone reads a word. One session, one light, one background fixes it for the next three years.
The look, decided before the day
There is no single “correct” corporate headshot, and the choice should follow your brand rather than the photographer’s habit. Options agreed in advance:
- Background — clean white, mid grey, dark charcoal, or your own office environment thrown out of focus.
- Crop — head-and-shoulders for LinkedIn, three-quarter for the website, plus a wider frame if you need space for text overlays.
- Expression — open and approachable, or serious and formal. Most teams end up wanting one of each per person.
- Format — square, portrait and 16:9 crops of the same frame, so the same portrait fits the intranet, the website and a slide.
- Retouching level — standard is colour, exposure, stray hairs and temporary blemishes. Nothing that makes a person unrecognisable at their own reception desk.
People who hate being photographed
In every team roughly a third of the room is dreading their turn. The fix is procedural, not motivational: short slots so nobody waits and works themselves up, a screen where they can see it going well, two or three concrete directions rather than “relax”, and permission to come back at the end of the day if they are unhappy. Nobody leaves with a portrait they did not choose.
Files, naming and handover
Delivery is built for whoever has to upload them. Each person’s selected frame is delivered as Surname_Firstname in the crops you asked for, in a folder per department if you want one, plus a contact sheet of the full set so someone can request a different frame later. If your intranet or HR system needs a specific pixel size, that is produced as an extra export rather than left for your team to crop.
Booking and price
On-site headshot days are quoted as a half-day or full-day rate that includes setup, shooting, one retouched image per person and delivery — not per head, so the price does not move if two people call in sick. Additional retouched frames per person, extra days for large teams, and conference or trade fair set-ups are quoted on the same basis.
