Passau sits where the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz meet, on the Austrian border and two hours from the Czech one. It is small, baroque, built on a spit of land between two rivers, and it has the one thing that makes an evening event memorable without any effort: guests arrive by boat.
Why hold an event in Passau

Old town halls and the Rathaus

Danube and Inn charters for arrivals, dinners and evening programmes. Confined, moving, mixed-light, and best in the first hour.
The rivers flood, and Passau knows it. High-water marks are on the old town walls for a reason. Venues on the lower streets have contingency plans; ask about them for a spring date before you sign.
Photographing events here
Water light, painted baroque ceilings and a fortress terrace — generous outdoors, demanding indoors.
- Boat coverage is planned around two or three fixed positions; on a full deck there is nowhere to move.
- Baroque interiors are shot available-light; a direct flash flattens painted ceilings completely.
- The fortress terrace is a sunset venue. The group photograph goes into the running order, not after dinner.
